Capturing Opportunities in the Global Legal Marketplace

Firm Growth Through Practice Group Expansion

Since the 1970’s Bostonian has assisted its US and European clients expand the range of their services by identifying individual attorneys, groups of attorneys or boutique firms in each case with an existing portable book of business in a legal specialty which was not previously the focus of our US or European client. The goal of these firms was not just to "follow their clients" into new areas of law but also to acquire new clients whose legal issues were more focused on these new legal areas.

In identifying potential individual attorneys, small groups of attorneys or boutique firms, Bostonian uses its network of contacts to consider fee structures, firm cultures, billable rates, professional training and experience, compensation structures, client bases and other relevant factors.

Firm Growth Through Jurisdictional Expansion

Since the 1970’s Bostonian has assisted its US and European clients expand into jurisdictions beyond their home office. The goal of these firms was not just to “follow their clients” but also to acquire new clients. This jurisdictional expansion by law firms and their clients reflects the evolving globalization of the world.

Bostonian has assisted these firms by identifying attorneys, small groups of attorneys or foreign firms with an existing portable book of business in the foreign jurisdiction which could fit with Bostonian’s client. In identifying potential foreign firms for these arrangements, Bostonian uses its network of contacts to consider fee structures, firm cultures, professional training and experience, compensation structures, billable rates, client bases and other relevant factors.
